I’ve been enjoying the woods of Oregon with an off leash dog at my side since I was 7 years old. I was given a backpack with the 10 essential survival items a hand whittled bow and arrow and my Papa’s black lab, Calypso or his German Shepherd, Klaus. As a young adult I quickly gather my own cohort of 3 dogs and spend endless time in nature with them. I joined my Papa’s Search & Rescue team when I was 23 and learned the skills of navigation, emergency preparedness, and reading working K9’s in nature. It only made sense to start contracting with Dog Adventures NW to get paid to take dog’s on off leash hikes as a young dog trainer. I have spent thousands of hours in the forest with off leash dogs of all ages, skill levels, and breeds. I can share my knowledge about how to safety and confidently give your dog the gift of off leash time in nature. I am trained in Wilderness First Aid as well as Pet CPR and First Aid.

Program details

We start training on my fenced acreage on a long line, advance to working off leash, then go to the forest on a long line, finally graduating to off leash. For some teams this may take 2 sessions and for some 20. I’m here to support you at your pace.

• While working together your dog will wear one of my Garmin GPS tracking collars

• These sessions are strictly for hiking off leash skills and do not cover any behavior issues not related to hiking off leash skills. To tackle other training goals, please book a Training Program. 

• Off leash hiking is not safe for every dog. During your program, we may pivot goals to long line hikes.

• 4 session package must be completed in 6 weeks
